DAAD Helmut Schmidt Scholarship 2027 in Germany (Fully Funded)

Offered by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)

15 Oct 2026

Fully funded scholarship from DAAD in Germany. Check the deadline and eligibility on the official page before applying.

A scholarship offered by DAAD in Germany.

The organiser describes this as fully funded. On this site that means tuition and accommodation are recorded as covered; flights are left as not stated until we have confirmed them, because they vary between programmes that use the same phrase. This is aimed at applicants at Master's level.

Before you apply

Open the official page and confirm three things: that the deadline still stands, that you meet the eligibility criteria as they are written there, and what documents you will need. Applications fail more often on a missing document than on a weak candidate.

Every detail here is checked against the organisation's own page, and that page is the authority: deadlines move, eligibility is rewritten, and programmes are withdrawn without announcement. Confirm before you apply.

How to apply

The Helmut-Schmidt-Programme funds master's study in public policy and good governance at a fixed group of German universities. Applications are made through the DAAD portal against one of the participating master's programmes.

The programme is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and is aimed at people who intend to work on democracy, social justice and sustainable development in their home country — the selection reads for that intent, so be concrete about it.

What you will need

  • DAAD online application
  • Degree certificates and transcripts
  • Letter of motivation
  • Two references
  • Language certificate

Eligibility notes

For applicants from developing and emerging countries in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and South and Southeast Asia.

Details can change without notice. Confirm everything on the organisation's own page before you apply — see our disclaimer. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.
